Ogun IRS rolls out COVID-19 palliatives for Taxpayers

The Ogun State Internal Revenue Service has released a public notice on various COVID-19 palliatives for taxpayers in the state. The notice reads that the palliatives are part of the Ogun State Government’s response to the effect of COVID-19 pandemic on businesses and individuals.

The palliatives include but not limited to the following:

  1. Extension of deadline for filing of 2019 income tax returns by self-employed individuals/informal sector for six months from March 31, 2020 to September 30, 2020
  2. Extension of filing of 2019 annual PAYE returns by PAYE operators/agents by eight (8) months from January 31, 2020 to September 30, 2020
  3. Complete waiver of interest and penalty for late filing of 2019 annual PAYE returns during the approved extension period.

Taxpayers have been advised to take advantage of the palliatives measures within the respective stipulated period and adhere strictly to the advisories of the World Health Organization (WHO), National Centre for Diesease Control (NCDC) and other relevant authorities on COVID-19.
